Ritzy

Today we went for afternoon tea as a belated Mother's Day gift. Q and Mini Q had their own seat on the train ride into the city.

We went to the swanky Ritz Carlton, which opened just a few months ago. This sculpture, the Mobius by Jeremy Guy, weighs over 500 pounds!

Afternoon tea was served in DEQ. The service was impeccable and the food was quite good. The Quatchis gave an A+ for presentation!

We occupied two large sofas by the fireplace. There was also a small library with an impressive book collection.

There was so much food (those little treats are deceptively very filling), we took a few for the road. Q and Mini Q hopped into the take home bag. I think the royal blue colour suits them.

The lobby was open yet peaceful. I snapped this photo of Q and Mini Q while they waited for my mum.

We had a very enjoyable time at the Ritz! Everything was first class!

Disappearing Act

My mum's friend, Mrs. M, always buys us the best (really, the best) butter tarts. Q loves them so much. Now you see it...

...and now you don't. Yum!

Happy Father's Day!

Mini Q was excited to give my dad his Father's Day gift this morning. We got him a gift card to Starbucks, his favourite coffee joint.

The two of them spent lots of quality time together. They read the paper in the porch...

...went for dim sum...

...took an afternoon nap...

...and had lobster for dinner.

Fairmont Overnighter

Q joined me on an overnighter to the Fairmont Royal York. We've been inside the hotel several times but have never slept over. Last time we were at the Royal York, we went for afternoon tea.

It was a fun and comfortable experience! As you can see, Q made himself right at home!

Name that Sasquatch!

My parents just flew back from Vancouver. My dad had a conference and my mum tagged along. My dad is usually not a softy but he told me that he saw something for Q and had to buy it. What is it you may ask? Well, it was a...

 

 

...mini sasquatch! That's right. One plus one now makes two. And our new friend needs a name! Any suggestions?!?

Busy, busy

I have an important exam coming up and Q has been a great pal keeping me company while I study.

Library Date

Q joined my dad and I on a library date. We usually go every three weeks (when books are due), grab a coffee at Starbucks, and run some errands for my mum. Here's Q perusing the cookbook section. We're seriously behind in our monthly baking endeavours. We need to get back into the game!

After selecting a few books and some CDs, Q picked up the latest issue of The New Yorker.

Pho

 Wowzers! So I haven't blogged in three weeks?!? My bad. But alas, the adventures of Q (and me) have returned!!!

Q joined my family and I for pho on Saturday. It was rainy and cold out so the noodles and soup really hit the spot.
