Hold'em

AHD was in town for business and brought Conan and Frankie along for the ride. Q was really happy to hang out with his friends. Yesterday, they played Texas Hold'em. Frankie was the ultimate winner but Q and Conan were also very good. Who knew they were poker superstars!

Best Ever Banana Muffins

Q baked delicious banana muffins the other day. His favourite part was mashing the bananas. Q wanted to share the recipe with you so here it is. Ta daa!

Best Ever Banana Muffins

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup melted butter

1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (3 or 4 bananas)

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in mixing bowl. Thoroughly beat together egg, sugar, butter, and mashed bananas. Add to dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened. Fill greased muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake in preheated 375F oven 20 to 25 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. Makes 12 muffins.

Q on Quatchi Watch

Quatch Watch was recently featured on Quatchi Watch, another fun blog dedicated to our favourite sasquatch. Quatchi Watch is a joint effort by Seattletonians Eliza and Steve. They met the Vacouver mascot at a community festival in Langley and fell in love with him instantly. Q enjoys visiting their site and encourages you to check it out too. Helping Haiti

Hey Quatch Fans!

For every person, and up to 50 people, who leaves comments in response to this post from now until 10 p.m. EST on Wednesday, January 20, Q will donate $1 to support relief efforts through the Canadian Red Cross.

The Government of Canada will match the contributions of individuals to eligible Canadian charitable organizations in support of humanitarian and recovery efforts in response to the earthquake, up to a total of $50 million.

Puzzled

I'm a big fan of Scrabble. Therefore, by association, so is Q. This morning, Q was trying to solve a Scrabble puzzle from my desk calendar.

Q thinks the word, BEVOR, is not acceptable in Scrabble. Honestly, I have no idea. However, I do have a good idea of the letters required to form the words on the right. Any takers?

It's the Final Countdown

The Olympics are almost here with only 30 days to go! Can you believe it?

Q is one of the official mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The other two are Miga and Sumi. Mukmuk is their trusty sidekick.

Miga is a young sea bear (part killer whale and part bear) who lives in the ocean with her family pod near Tofino.

Sumi is an animal spirit who lives in the mountains of BC. He wears the hat of the orca whale, flies with the wings of the mighty thunderbird, and runs on the strong furry legs of the black bear.

Mukmuk is a small and friendly Vancouver Island marmot who always supports and cheers loudly for his friends during games and races.

Sunday Afternoon

 

Q spent this afternoon exploring the outdoors. He walked through the snow.

He found some animal tracks. A raccoon perhaps?

He kicked back and soaked up the sun.

And when he came inside, he sipped on espresso. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

The Reader

Q has been quite the reader these days. He likes to sit with my mum in the morning when she reads the paper. He also likes to hang out with my dad when he reads novels. Today, he decided to read solo.
